Only the best male alpacas should be used for breeding. Their importance to a breeding program is huge, particularly as one male is likely to be used over many females.
Cairndinnis Alpacas is the proud owner of Purston Pride of Place, our mid fawn stud male.
We have used other studs’ males before - read all about them below, and follow the links to their breeders’ web sites to find more alpacas like them.

QAI Peruvian Leon - sire of Cairndinnis Caledonian (Cally)
QAI Peruvian Leon was mated to Milka to give her her first cria for us. Leon was born in Canada to Peruvian parents. Leon’s sire, and so Cally’s grand-sire, is 5Peruvian Camelot (photo to the right), a mid to dark brown alpaca from the Macusani region of Peru. The alpacanation.com website describes Camelot as “arguably the best dark-colored male alpaca ever imported from Peru”. Camelot has not been shown but his progeny have won many awards, including Get of Sire, in the US show rings. Amongst Camelot’s other UK progeny is the dark brown stud Peruvian Chocolate Kim, three times Canadian Champion alpaca jointly owned by Purston Alpaca and Livanti Alpacas.

Cairndinnis’ own Purston Pride of Place
Pride of Place was bred by David Barnett at Purston Alpacas from Chilean import parents, Purston Legacy now owned by Greenside Alpacas in Cumbria and Purston Pink Champagne, still producing lovely cria at Purston.
Pride of Place was himself born in September 2002. He was Champion Junior Male at the BAS Championship Show at the Royal Show in 2003 beating all the whites in his age-group. His first fleece was 18.5u and he has retained fineness as well as having super crimp, and softness.
Pride of Place lives up to his name with his lovely bearing and great temperament. His cria are all solid in colour with white, fawns and browns.
